Open Faced Sweetheart Sandwiches
Mix softened cream cheese with a couple of drops of red food coloring. Spread cream cheese mixture on bread slices. Cut bread with heart shaped cookie cutter.

Pink Toast
Bits of milk with tiny bit of red food coloring, kids paint bread then toast it.

Finger Heart Sandwiches
Make any type of sandwich and cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter.

Queen of Hearts Tarts
2 cans of biscuits
1 jar of strawberry or cherry jam

2 non-stick muffin tins
pot holder
teaspoon
Divide the biscuits in half. Roll the biscuit halves into small balls.
Press each ball into muffin cup and spread the ball around the sides.
Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and cool. Spoon jam inside each tart.


Pink Freeze
Ice cream and pink lemonade concentrate melted, mix it together
then refreeze
it in a 9 x 13 pan and serve with a strawberry on top.
 
Pizza Hearts
Cookie cut an english muffin.  Have the kids cover with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese.  Bake.

Healthy Snack
Bright red strawberries sitting on top of strawberry yogurt.

Rice Crispy Treats
Add red sprinkles when making the crispy treats.Shape them like hearts.

Valentine Cone
Materials: Ice cream cone
Pink frosting
Small candies
Directions: Cover an ice cream cone with pink frosting. 
Let the kids decorate with candy
hearts, red hots, sprinkles, etc.

Gingerbread Valentines
Materials: 1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup molasses
2 tablespoons vinegar
5 cups sifted flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon each of ground ginger, cinnamon, and cloves
1 package red hots candies
1 jar silver ball candy decorations
Directions: 1. Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, and salt.
2. Add egg, molasses, and vinegar.  Mix well.
3. Sift together dry ingredients.  Add to molasses mixture, mix well.
4. Chill about 3 hours.  Roll out, ¼ inch thick, on lightly floured surface.
5. Trace children's hands onto paper and cut out with scissors. 
Place paper
hands on dough and cut around with a knife.
6. Place on greased cookie sheet and let children decorate their own hands.
Use red hots for fingernails, silver balls for rings, etc.
7. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes, cool on wire rack. 
Makes about 15 hands.


Lovable Cookies
Materials: 1 20 oz. Roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough, chilled
1 16 oz. Can pink frosting
Powdered sugar
Heart shaped cookie cutters - 1 small and 1 large
Directions: Prepare sugar cookies according to directions on the package for rolled cookies.
Cut hearts in dough using a cookie cutter.  Use knife or smaller cookie cutter to cut out a heart in the center of half the cookies.  Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 7 - 9 minutes. You can bake the baby hearts, too, for 5 minutes only.  Let cool. 
Spread each big solid cookie with frosting and top with a cutout cookie. 
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Heart Crackers
Buy heart shaped crackers and top them as desired.

Heart Shaped Pasta
Cook according to directions, add butter, and toss with parmesan cheese.

Jell-O Jigglers
Make as directed on Jell-O box for jigglers.  Let the children use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut out heart shapes.  Use red Jell-O.

Valentine Waffles
Use cookie cutters to make heart shaped waffles.

Valentine Sandwiches
Make a strawberry jelly, cream cheese sandwich on white bread for each child. Let them use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make heart shaped sandwiches.

Valentine Roll Ups
Have the children spread cream cheese and strawberry jam onto a tortilla. Have the children roll the tortilla up like a log.  Cut the rolled up tortilla into sections.

Honey Hearts
Makes 12
Mix: 1/3 cup butter
¼ cup honey Add: 2/3 cup oats
1/3 cup dry milk
4 teaspoons water

Mix Well Add: ¾ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt

Roll dough ¼ to ½ inch thick. 
Cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter.  Bake.


Candy Glass
Materials: Heart shaped cookie cutters Hard candies and sprinkles (Jolly Ranchers work well) 10 inch length of ribbon Directions: Wrap the bottom and sides of a cookie cutter with foil. 
Set on a baking sheet and coat with cooking spray.  Fill each cookie cutter with a single layer of Jolly Rancher candies.  Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until melted. 
Add sprinkle, cool for 2 minutes, then use a chopstick to poke a hole near the top for hanging. 
Once cool, remove from the mold and hang with a ribbon.

 
Heart Sandwich
Ingredients: Slice of bread
Butter
Cream cheese
Red jelly
Directions: Cut a large heart from a slice of bread. 
Spread with butter and cream cheese.

Put a little red jelly in the center.  

Heart Shaped Biscuits With Pink Butter
Biscuits: Mix up a batch of Bisquick biscuits using the directions on the box.  Have the children roll out the dough with rolling pins.  Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut out the biscuits.  Bake according to the directions on the box.

Pink Butter
Pour heavy cream into clean baby food jars (one for each child).  Add a couple drops of red food coloring.  Secure the jar with the lids.  Have the children shake, shake, shake, and shake their jars until the cream turns into butter. Enjoy the pink butter on your yummy hot biscuits.

Fruit And Dip
Ingredients: 1 jar marshmallow cream
¼ cup fruit juice (orange or pineapple are best)
Directions: Mix marshmallow cream and juice until well blended.  Add more juice if too thick. 
Serve with apple slices and banana slices that have been dipped in Sprite or pineapple juice, canned peach slices, and pineapple chunks. Watermelon chunks are also great when in season.  You can mix in red food coloring to create a valentine theme.

 
Heart Cookies
Ingredients: Roll of pre made sugar cookie dough
Jam, jelly, or preserves in raspberry, strawberry, or cherry flavors
Powdered sugar
Rolling pin,
cookie cutters, 1 large heart, 1 small heart,
strainer, sifter

Directions: Roll out cookie dough and cut into large heart shapes.  On half of cookies cut small heart out of center of large heart.  Bake according to cookie package directions.  Let cool slightly. Separate the cookies with holes away from the cookies without holes.  While cookies are still warm sift powdered sugar only over the cookies with the holes in the center.  Set aside.  On cookies without hole in center, spread preserves.  Place cookie with hole on top of cookie with preserves. 
Continue until all the cookies have been matched up. Store in airtight container.
