My Jack-o-Lantern
(to tune of "Did You Ever See a
Lassie?")
Oh, once I had a pumpkin,a pumpkin,a pumpkin,
Oh, once I had a pumpkin with no face at all.
With no eyes, and no nose, and no mouth, and no
teeth,
Oh, once I had a pumpkin with no face at all.
So I made a
jack-o-lantern,jack-o-lantern,jack-o-lantern,
So I made a jack-o-lantern with a big funny
face.
With big eyes, and big nose, and big mouth, and
big teeth,
So I made a jack-o-lantern with a big funny
face.

Pumpkins
Pumpkins tugging at their vines,
Pumpkins growing round and green.
Pumpkins hiding in the leaves,
Pumpkins shyly, smooth and clean.
Pumpkins shining in the rain,
Pumpkins plumping in the sun.
Pumpkins blushing underneath,
Turning orange, one by one.
by Heather Mitchell Amey

See the pumpkin fat and round
Lying on the cold wet ground.
Now look up in the moonlit sky
And you will see the bats that fly.
Look oh so careful- ghosts can be seen
Because this night is Halloween!

Carve,Carve, the pumpkin with me
Tell me what shape the eyes should be.
A _____, A _____ is that what you say?
We're making a jack-o-lantern for Halloween
Day!
(Repeat two more times, sunstituting the words nose and mouth.)

My Pumpkin
Here's my orange pumpkin (have hands outspread)
Big and fat and round (make circle with hands)
It's the very best one (hold up one finger)
I could find downtown (point in that direction)
Now I need to make a nose ("cut" nose
on your face)
A mouth...some eyes (circle eyes like glasses)
Or mother will use it (motion to remove)
To cook and bake some pies (act like stirring)

Mr.Pumpkin
(sung to: "Frere Jacques")
Mr. Pumpkin, Mr. Pumpkin,
Eyes so round,eyes so round.
Halloween is coming, Halloween is coming,
To my town,to my town.

Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting
late."
The second one said,"There are witches in
the air."
The third one said, "But we don't
care."
The fourth one said, "Let's run and run
and run!"
The fifth one said, "We're ready for some
fun."
Then "OOOOOO" went the wind and out
went the lights,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of
sight!

Jack-'o-Lantern
Jack-'o-lantern ,Jack-'o-lantern
You are such a funny sight
As you sit there in the window
Looking out at the night
You were once a little pumpkin
Growing on a sturdy vine
Now you are a Jack-'o-lantern
See the candle light shine.

YELLOW PUMPKIN
(Tune:I'm a little teapot)
I'm a yellow pumpkin, fat and round
Growing in the cornfield, on the ground
I'll be a Jack-o-Lantern, with 2 big eyes
Or maybe I'll be baked in 2 fat pies.

Pumpkin's Place
However many pumpkins sit along the pumpkin vine,
The biggest and the roundest one
Is going to be mine.
I'll carve his eyes,a nose, and mouth,
Like no one's ever seen,
Then set him on the window ledge
The eve of Halloween.
He'll celebrate this night of nights,
Atop this special place,
So those who pass beneath his seat will see his glowing face.

October Fun
Who has a big and smiling mouth, a tooth up north and two down south?
Beneath his mouth who has a chin that's rather round and curvy-in?
Who has three corners to his eyes- the strangest shape, the strangest size? Who has a nose,
three-cornered, too, where orange light comes shining
through?
Aileen Fisher

Pumpkin head
We bought a pumpkin big and round that lived the summer through
without an eye to look at things... and now it looks through two.
It used to be all dark inside when growing on the vine,
but now it has a toothy smile and face that's full of shine.

Jack-o'-Lantern
My son has planned a work of art.
On just what pumpkin will he start?
This orange giant looks just right
To shape a face that is a fright.
The big, round eyes are cut with
style,
Triangle nose, a wicked smile.
He lights a candle's small, brave
beam
To make that jack-o'-lantern gleam.
Now which one has the brightest glow?
The boy or pumpkin,I don't know!
Louise Pugh Corder
Here are a couple of riddles!

A: Pumpkin "Pi"
Q: What do you get when you drop a pumpkin?
